Are you traveling the Road of Getting Past Someone? Here's some encouragement.

We all have people in our past that we've had to get past or we are trying to get past. It doesn't matter whether it was someone you were dating or just a friendship that went sour or stopped growing. I believe a credible question is "how do I do that"? How should we move on in a healthy manner from people who weren't good for us and are not apart of the life plans and purpose that God has for us? Follow along with me and tell me what you think.

Here Goes...

Most of my writings I do research for and most of it comes from my heart and what is in my soul. The first thing I can think of is ask yourself "Was that person good for ME"?  Try to stay away from asking yourself did we have good times or fun, and are they a good person. You may be thinking oh he's smart and accomplished or she is kind and has a plan for her future...all that's great but not the focus to answer this question. I believe we can all look back at the totality of a relationship or involvement with someone and answer if it was a beneficial relationship at the end of the day. No people aren't perfect and people can and will change. However, you have to decide whether a person is worth your time and if they add to God's purpose for your life and to your peace of mind. If you are unsure of that, I believe that is a relationship or connection you want to give some space to pray about and really know what direction you want to go in. Its okay to take a break from something or someone to see how you really feel and discover what is best for you. "YOU" are a very important person to look after. "YOU" matter! I believe a break can be healthy in some relationships and connections and many times cutting ties all together can bring clarity and help you towards a good path in your life also.

Surround yourself in an environment that supports your life change. Spend time with friends or family you trust or pick up a  hobby. It always helps to be around an environment and people who want to see you do well for yourself and care about your best interests. Its hard to grow in an environment that doesn't allow, support or improve growth. Sometimes its not easy to change certain aspects of your environment. When we are unable to change things or fix our issues we can always pray. Pray for the change in living or work environment that you  need or for more supportive friendships. Sometimes all we can do is pray because there is only so much we are able to do and change. God is always able and desires to see you prosper in life according to his purpose for you.

Once you have moved on, keep moving on. Its so easy to go back to things and people we know because we have a bad week or we give up on believing that seperating from someone was the best idea. You may find that when you move on it feels and seems much harder and difficult to deal with than the craziness you were putting up with in that relationship. Don't slip back!  There are days a familiar smell or even a song will have you thinking all about the good ole days. It will happen. The memories will creep up at the most inopportune time and in that moment you must make a choice. Make or accept that phone call or not? Send or respond to that message or not?  Stay focused, talk to someone that can encourage you for the better and know that if you've chosen to move on, every day wont be easy and somedays you walk with your head down. As you keep pressing forward I pray your future opens up to days and times that you can walk with your head held higher and higher.

I find that acceptance helps. If you feel the relationship needs a break, accept that and take a healthy break. If you have decided its best to move on completely, accept moving on is the best choice and live with that.  When you accept things its easier to handle them and take action. I believe its necessary to accept that you deserve better and you're going to do whatever it takes to go after it. Counseling is a great tool in most cases of moving past someone. Its okay to talk to someone about how you feel and accept help. Sometimes moving on cant be done alone and a support system is beneficial to success for you.

We sometimes spend years and years in relationships only to find it may not continue or it doesn't need to. Its a very hard experience and its emotionally and physically draining to give of yourself and spend your time and energy and LOVE and FEELINGS on someone and it starts turning sour. Its a shocker to think you have to learn how to live again without it. It makes me think of someone telling me I'll have to learn how to walk all over again. Can you imagine after you've been getting around on your own and feeling capable for however many years you've been alive and the ability to walk gets snatched from you and you have to learn all over again? SMH. Sounds like torture, confusion and utter sadness. I know for a fact it can be done though. Through agony, sorrow, smiles, sweat, tears, prayers, ups, downs, triumphs and struggles; I can do it, you can do it, we can do it.
